First incorporated in September 17, 1986 to cultivate and promote the interest of the citizens of Vernon in drama appreciation, drama history, public theater and the teaching of drama. It was originally designed to play a supporting role to Vernon Junior College's Theatre Ensemble, but also produced many Broadway shows under its first paid director, Carl Westerman. Local talent was also featured in an annual talent show called, "The Red Stocking Follies." We will revive that tradition on April 22, 2006.
In the spring of 2005, the Vernon Community Players Incorporated, was revitalized with some new membership and additional interest. The sole purpose of the reorganization was to help this group become the support organization for many kinds of drama and entertainment, including a wide variety of community theater projects.
